Smitty has a well reasoned, articulate essay on how we can fix the current government situation we have today. It all starts with repealing the 16th and 17th amendments, as well as some other minor fixes. As do I, Smitty thinks Paul Ryan’s proposed budget for 2012 is a good start. But if the Conservatives in the house and Senate bow to pressure from the Progressive left on Ryan’s budget, Conservatism is sunk for the foreseeable future.Or at least until the Progressive Left drives us off the cliff.
Another thing, I feel like we could actually benefit if we don’t pass a new debt ceiling limit. For one thing, the government would definitely have less money to spend and they would have to get serious on social program reform, as well as cutting or defunding some of the onerous government departments Americans complain so vociferously about like the Dept. of Education, the EPA and the Dept. of Energy.
