Well dear children, Daddy was lucky and didn’t have to fight in the war, but he still served his country. I was a 303X3, an Automatic Tracking Radar Specialist. I trained military pilots in the arts of electronic warfare and dropping bombs on target. I was in the First Combat Evaluation Group and we had stations all over the world, but I served my enlistment at a place called Detachment 4 in Bann, Germany.
Our radar site was situated on the ridge above the picturesque little town so our radar had “line of site” for at least a hundred miles in every direction. We served the USAF Tactical Fighter Wings stationed at various bases in Germany, England and Italy as well as some of the other NATO Air Forces. Perhaps these videos can explain it better than I;

Daddy was lucky and missed the war in Viet Nam. But the 303X3’s who did serve in the war had a storied history;

That last video could be somewhere in the Hindu Kush, almost.
It could almost be in the Smokey Mountains, too. Thanks for your comment.
