PSA…Once You Hit Send, It’s Out of Your Hands

Stacy McCain has an article about a couple of teenagers who pulled a facebook prank on a fellow student. It reminds me of what we told our Granddaughter when we gave her her computer and cellphone. “If you can’t text or show it to me or your Grandmother, then it’s probably not a good thing.”

Parents out there in cyberland…Please please tell your children, drum it into their heads…Once you hit the send button on a text or on a computer, it’s out there. Anyone can get access to it, even several years down the road. What you put out there in the ether can and will effect you for the rest of your life.

Kids who’ve posted lewd pictures of themselves on their phones can now be labeled as sex offenders. These two teenage girls who faked a facebook profile of another girl now face charges of “impersonating a person on facebook.” That’s now a crime and it goes on your permanent record. Colleges and future employers can and will use it against you.

Again parents, please please tell your kids to be careful what they text or put on the internet because the internet is forever.
